Adobe's Photoshop Mix app for iPad, released alongside a flurry of new updates for Adobe's Creative Cloud 2014 suite, did something no other tablet-based app could — use the power of the cloud to perform sophisticated, processor-intensive editing functions such as content aware fill, lens correction and shake reduction. With its first upgrade — to version 1.1 — Adobe integrates some significant new elements and refinements to the Mix operation, as noted in the company's blog post. An enhanced undo/redo lets you apply multiple undos or redos within a task, while the new image swapping feature improves the compositing function by letting you select foreground and background images on...

Two unidentifired teams fight for the ba

Ilya Pozin is a serial entrepreneur, writer, and investor. He is the founder of online video entertainment platform Pluto.TV, social greeting card company Open Me, and digital marketing agency Ciplex. Are you killing your employees or coworkers with your controlling behavior? Delegating doesn't come easy to many of us, but micromanaging rarely motivates people to work harder. According to a survey from OfficeTeam, nearly one in two employees have worked for a bad boss at some point in their careers. The book What To Do When There's Too Much To Do by Laura Stack actually discovered 75 to 80 percent of American workers suffer...

Posted: 29 Aug 2014 11:01 AM PDT

Following its recent facelift, YouTube today began rolling out a new queuing feature for sharing videos to Chromecast from your computer. Google expects the updates to arrive for all users by early next week. With the new changes, you'll be able to use a single tab to cast a video and then continue browsing to line up more to watch. You'll also be able to cast playlists. YouTube has also confirmed updates we noticed earlier in the day that unify the design of the Add to Playlist and Share buttons on the desktop with the mobile apps. The company has...

If you're up for taking a trip down memory lane, this new Flickr photostream has got you covered. The Internet Archive teamed up with a researcher to upload images from its collection of scanned public domain books. Currently, the collection features 2.6 million of the 14 million total photos in the archive. The image entries also include the text before and after the image, so the photoset is quite searchable. If you want to read the book, there's a link to the Internet Archive's ebook viewer in each photo's description. Since the images are already in the public domain, they're posted...

Jason SurfrApp is the founder of IWearYourShirt and author of Creativity For Sale. Want to read more of his writing? Go to MoreJason.com.  I can remember it clear as day. The first year of IWearYourShirt was coming to a (fun and profitable) end and people were emailing in to congratulate me on pulling off such a crazy idea. Besides the accolades, there was a message that got repeated over and over: "Jason, you did a great job with the first year of IWearYourShirt, but you need to plan to take some time off! Working 365 days a year isn't sustainable and you need to give yourself...

Guided by Chromecast: The power to shape viewing habits

Posted: 29 Aug 2014 09:44 AM PDT

Launching initially in the US back in July 2013, Google finally took Chromecast global in March, arriving in Canada, the UK and nine other European countries. The HDMI TV streaming dongle has been a revelation on many fronts, chiefly because it makes it insanely easy to consume mobile and Web-based content on your big screen, and it does so at a ridiculously cheap pricepoint too. US consumers can snap one up for around $34.99, while I paid around £30 for it in the UK, though that is now dropping below the £20 threshold in some retailers, which is insane really....

The iPhone 6 will be one in a million… and that’s the problem

Posted: 29 Aug 2014 09:10 AM PDT

Apple's Latest iPhone Models Go On Sale Across U.S.

The next iPhone's announcement date has been set, but I'm worried that it'll leave me feeling underwhelmed and without a vision for Apple's future. Back when the first iPhone was introduced, we weren't really ready for it. At a time when having a crappy VGA camera and basic MP3 functionality was a relatively novel experience on a phone, Apple came along with a smooth-curved handset that people aspired to own. It was by no means perfect, but it was a crucial moment for the market; following it, previously established giants would fall. Now however, it's just two different devices in a sea of alternative choices, and...

Posted: 29 Aug 2014 07:49 AM PDT

business man roof deck

When you need funding, angel investors can seem like a godsend. However, raising money from angels isn't as easy, or as simple, as it might seem. To learn more, I asked 12 successful founders from Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) the following question: I'm thinking of raising money from angels. What is one thing I should know? Their best answers are below: 1. You'll Face a Lot of Rejection There are hundreds of reasons an angel will reject your pitch, and so many things need to happen simultaneously for somebody to say "yes." Don't tie your happiness on that day to the positive or negative responses you get from potential investors, because...
