Snapping up Jared Allen a master stroke for Bears

CHICAGO (CBS) – The Bears continued to bolster their defensive line on Wednesday, signing five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen to a four-year deal. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the deal was worth $32 million 


While Jared Allen was weighing free-agent offers from the Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Bears jumped in with an offer the five-time Pro Bowl defensive end couldn't resist.


Jared Allen signed with the Chicago Bears, ostensibly replacing Julius Peppers on the roster. Peppers earlier signed with division rival Green Bay, so the choice between the two veterans, both whom rate in the top 20 all-time 


The Chicago Bears have signed four-time All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen to a four-year contract on Wednesday morning, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Reports in recent days had talked about Allen weighing a few offers 


With the NFL owners meeting wrapping up Wednesday morning, Bears general manager Phil Emery pulled off a move that was felt from here to the Pacific Northwest, agreeing to terms with Jared Allen on a four-year contract worth $15.5 million guaranteed
